Canal Administration building is around the corner

Want to go jogging? Walk to the supermarket? Or the dry cleaner, pizza place, bank... In Balboa that's a pleaseant experience. Quiet, safe streets, wide sidewalks, public transport around the corner.

On the left you see the Panama Canal Administration building, in itself worth a visit.

The huge Albrook mall just 5 minutes and a $ 2 taxi ride away. Next to Albrook Mall you also find the terminal for all domestic bus services and the airport that handles are domestic air travel (see map below).

Even better, the Amador Causeway is just a 10-minute walk away. Restaurants, bars, bicycle rental, the Balboa Inn is close to it all. In addition to iits central location, save you from the continous city background noise you'd suffer downtown hotels.

Plaza 5 de Mayo, Avenida Central - Panama's most typical pedestrian shopping area - the colonial Casco Viejo neighborhood are also a 5 minute taxi ride away. From 5 de Mayo you can take buses to anywhere in the city. Avenida Central is the place to shop for bargains and taste the true Panama "ambiente". Casco Viejo takes you back in time to the Spanish colonial era.

And finally, Panama city's landmark, Cerro Ancon, a small birders paradise with great views over the city is right next to the Balboa Inn.

As you can see from this aerial picture showing the Bridge of the Americas, we're just behind Ancon Hill.

The top right is the Casco Viejo. The top middle the city, including Paitilla with its huge apartment towers.

The map below shows that all the places worthwhile your visit are within a mile's radius.

About 3 miles north you'll find the Miraflores locks of the Panama Canal with its new visitors center and fascinating exhibition and ships passing by every morning and afternoon.

Accross from the locks, you find the City of Knowledge, Panama's cluster of academic institutions, NGO's and tech. companies. If you have business there, the Balboa Inn is ideal for you.
